Mobile, Alabama – May 19,2018 – ASBA is pleased to announce the hiring of Bobby Buchanan as a head coach for the all-new women’s professional softball league.

Bobby Buchanan has just completed his first season as Head Softball Coach at Louisiana College in Pineville, LA. Prior to coaching at Louisiana College, Buchanan served as pitching and co-hitting coach at Southern University in Baton Rouge and has a combined five years of experience as an assistant or volunteer coach at the University of North Dakota, Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Texas State University.
In his first year at the helm at Louisiana College, Buchanan helped raise the softball team’s offensive output in almost every category. The Wildcats set a new team record with 140 stolen bases and picked up wins over two top-25 ranked teams.
“Buchanan is a dynamic recruiter, prolific fundraiser and fierce competitor. He is the perfect person to help us launch our league in Mobile. We can’t wait to see what he brings to ASBA.”
Buchanan will coach the Moh-BEEL! USA team and draw the first pick in the 2018 ASBA Draft.
The ASBA is a women’s professional softball league debuting in Mobile, AL on June 15, 2018. The draft is scheduled for Wednesday, June 6 at 4 PM Central and will be aired live from Moe’s Original BBQ in Mobile, on ASBA Network.
