Mobile, Alabama – The American Softball Association (ASBA) is pleased to announce the hiring of Steve Alcorn as a head coach for the women’s professional softball league. Alcorn has been an Assistant Coach at the University of Mobile since 2018. In his first season with Mobile, he helped propel the team to a 21-6 finish in the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC), and a 46-15 record overall. With less than a month to go in the 2019 season, the Rams are currently ranked 7th nationally and on track to best last year’s marks.
“We are very fortunate to have Steve join the coaching staff this summer,” said Michael Chiaradio, CEO of ASBA. “His experience, enthusiasm and overt passion for the game are exactly the traits we are looking for in a head coach. We’re excited to see what he brings to the professional level.”
Prior to this coaching position, Alcorn served as an assistant coach at The College of Wooster in Wooster, OH, head coach at Lower Dauphin High School in Hummelstown, PA and has instructed at numerous camps and clinics throughout the east coast. Alcorn was also a police officer in Pennsylvania before he began coaching collegiately.
Alcorn will coach Team ASBA which represents ASBA’s real estate investment partnership, a group providing wide access to private real estate investment opportunities regardless of income, credit history, or net worth. He will have the third pick at the 2019 ASBA Draft which will be held on Wednesday, June 5 at 4 pm CT at Moe’s Original BBQ, 701 Spring Hill Avenue in Mobile.
The ASBA is a women’s professional softball league based in Satsuma, AL an immediate suburb of Mobile. All games are played at Satsuma High School and can be followed live on ASBA Network.
